A few weeks ago I did a poll on my twitter asking what travel guide you guys wanted to see next and the most requested location was Universal Orlando! I absolutely LOVE the parks and leapt at the opportunity to work on this guide and the opportunity to share all my Universal Studios tips and tricks with you all. I knew I couldn’t fit all the information into one post so I’ve decided to split it into two. Part one focuses on Universal Studios and part two is all about Islands of Adventure.
One of my favourite things about living in South Carolina was the travel it opened doors to! The south has an incredible amount to offer and I am so grateful to of seen as much of it as I did. This closeness to Orlando meant dad and I became Universal annual pass holders! During our year as pass holders we ended up learning a lot about how to make the most your days in the parks. Some days we would take it slow while others were go, go, go. To help you plan your trip I’ve rounded up my 4 favorite rides, the best shows, tastiest snacks, and all the best instagram spots with some bonus tips at the end!
Frequently asked questions about Universal:
Which is the best hotel to stay at?
We’ve used quite a few different ones however my favourite has to be the Loews Sapphire Falls Resort! It is the best of both worlds; close enough to use the water taxi or walk, yet far enough away that you don’t hear the noise at night.
Is the fast pass worth it?
The first time we went we used the fast passes and it was so worth it! A lot of the on site hotels offer them as part of your resort fees. Dependent on crowds it may or may not be worth it. Keep in mind the time of year and weather.
On site or off site hotels?
This really depends on your budget and needs. Most of the on site hotels offer early access to the park which lets you in an hour before everyone else. This is a great way to maximise park time during the busy summer months. There are some really great properties available on Airbnb, a lot of them even come with a pool! Best theme park snack?
Churros all the way.
How long do you need to see/experience everything?
The parks are constantly changing so it’s really hard to see everything. I would recommend 3/4 days depending on whether you do Volcano Bay as well.
As always if you have any specific questions or comments, send them my way! I’d love to hear what you thought of the guide!
